Passive solar house prototype design with a new bio-based material for a semi-arid climate

Abstract In this study, a passive solar house prototype was built using Trombe wall and tested in the semi-arid region of Batna, eastern Algeria. Traditional local materials (stone adobe) were used for construction thermal storage wall. A new bio-based material made from date palm trunks insulation prototype. For better understanding heating comparative numerical simulation, Fluent, carried out. The aim study to supply recommendations improving systems participate energy consumption control building sector. results show that experimental simulation are good agreement. optimal orientation has been determined, which is at 160° southeast. use proven its effectiveness house. behavior wood found be close those commonly buildings. That means it same ability (thermal conductivity). On other hand, efficiency system, with an adobe significantly higher (50%) than stone (30.7%).
